Feb 8, 2012 - Look at Wikipedia "Lactation"
"Other well known example of nourishing young with secretions of glands is the crop milk of pigeons. Like in mammals and disc fish this also appears closely related to prolactin.[19] Other birds such as flamingos and penguins are utilizing similar feeding techniques.[20]"
(Wow I feel like a mameshiba now!)
Feb 3, 2012 - It is that complicated. Some are probably more just supposed to be relevantly disgusting (kangaroo pouch, 200million germs) than insulting and this may be one of them. But if it ever is, it's rarely simply just a random fact. I think some are hidden under idioms and culture, but you can still understand a lot of them.
Jan 25, 2012 - Yeah, almost all of these are a dig at the recipient, but can't figure this one out. Asian idiom or something? The shop owner even has a pretty big reaction, so there's gotta be something.
Jan 3, 2012 - Okay.
It's official; all these facts are a bunch of hippo sweat.
A flamingo is a BIRD. Last time I checked, birds didn't have mammary glands.
